Best shelter to send donations
There is no more official shelter - however there is a stalwart local group headquartered out of "Puppy Love" on Springfield Ave that I can highly recommend and suggest you contact them. They are amazing in a thankless job!

Hi, My daughter will be using her birthday party to raise money for animals in need. We would like to send the donations to somewhere local and maybe even sponsor some specific animals so the kids feel more of a connection to their giving. Curious if anyone has ever done this and if there is a specific shelter that you all would recommend.
