Basement floor

I was wondering approximately how much it costs to get a concrete basement floor put in. Part of our basement currently has old carpeting under it, which has to go, and the concrete below it is rocky and uneven. We are talking about a small area, maybe 20 x 20, if that.

Also--any good recommendations for who does this kind of work?

Thanks in advance

This doesn't exactly answer your question but may be helpful?

Is the concrete floor in the areas of the basement that were not carpeted also uneven and rocky? I wonder if the texture you are describing might actually be remnants of the carpet adhesive and small sand/rocks?

I don't know pricing for new concrete pour, but it maymean either tearing up the existing to do it or you would have 1-2 inch rise in that area. I would imagine more expensive than other options.

you might consider tile or linoleum to cover and make the floor smoother. You didn't state in your post if you want it for living/play space or if you are returning it to a basement. If you are looking at living space, this might be more cost effective. Either option could be done after the concrete was stripped bare. You could actually do it your self without a ton of experience, there are books/videos and its fairly simple.
