Arthritis in feet

Does anyone have any experience of relieving pain in feet through any kind of treatment? All my podiatrist said was, after taking xray, that I have arthritis. Maybe use something like Ace bandage. The idea of losing mobility is very upsetting.

Have osteoarthritis in my knees and was helped by Monovisc shots - also lost 30 pounds since I had the shots, which has also helped me a lot. Don't know if they work for arthritis in the foot area, but helped very much when I could hardly walk with knee pain.

Sorry about the diagnosis. Your best bet for treatment comes from the specialists in arthritic care. BUT BE CAREFUL. Some, if not all of the treatments come with warnings of severe consequences. My "significant other" enjoyed a higher quality of life for 15 years because of the pharm. treatments. The warnings of one of the drugs included stomach cancer and that is what she died from.

I am not suggesting you avoid drugs. Rather, evaluate the risk.

Read the warnings before deciding if the trade-off is worth the risk or if delaying treatment may be a good decision.

A podiatrist would not be the ideal specialist for evaluation and treatment of arthritis. You should get a complete work-up by an excellent rheumatologist.

depends on the kind of arthritis you have - referral to a rheumatologist might help. I have both osteoarthritis and psoriatic gout which is now often referred to as psoriatic arthritis.

In both, controlling inflammation is key to how you manage the pain and maintain flexibility. So, diet and exercise are critical - nothing too extreme! The Arthritis Foundation has great suggestions on its website, and there are wonderful community exercise sessions to join. (I love the standing/moving in heated water exercises, and light strength training is also good) I've also found that keeping my feet warm with good socks really cuts down on the pain.

I think I need to go to an arthritis guy myself. My orthopedist is telling me I need a new knee and a new hip. Oy.

cheese We're wearing out, DB, just living the good life cheese

I'm pretty sure its osteoarthritis. Guess I should have specified. I have high arches which have caused aches most of my adult life. Pain now more acute. I'll check out the sites you all mentioned. Thanks.

I will suggest you to go with the hot water hydrotherapy. This is the great source to get relief from the arthritis pain.
