Apartment Rental Wanted

My 23 year old son is looking for a studio, one BR, or shared apartment in Maplewood or South Orange. He is clean and neat, a good cook, and has a steady job in New York City.

His current situation (in Bergen County) just blew up--the Landlord texted them that the house is going to a sheriff's auction!

Please email me at mfpark@yahoo.com if you know of anything that might work.

Thanks

Mark

We are PMing, but for general information, tenants in a property that is being foreclosed on are protected by their lease. If your son has a current lease, the person who buys the property has to honor its terms. The buyer can't force him to move or raise the rent as long as the lease is in effect.

If there's no lease, then no luck. All he gets is 30 days' notice.

Not true if the foreclosure is done correctly and the tenants are named as defendants to the action.

No lease and no luck.

There is a sign out that there is a studio for rent at Vose Manor, 147-151 Vose Ave in South Orange. I don't have the phone number available, but it is on the sign.

Hi all: Just reinvigorating this thread. My son is still looking. Everytime he has a lead they seem to lease it out before he gets there. Tough market for renters, I guess.

Any live leads appreciated. Either a studio, or a two bedroom (he has another friend also looking).

Again, he is employed at a good job, neat, clean, and polite.

Thanks!

Hate to be a wet blanket, but shouldn't this be in the Classified section? Lots of us are keeping an eye on the rental market these days.

If he's looking for a studio, have you checked the Rental classiieds here? (They're on the "for sale" categoy drop down menu, for some reason, rather than house listing. Several studios there now.

Good luck!

I think it's the landlords who need to keep their advertising in the classifieds. I would think that people who are looking can avail themselves of the forum. If not, then a lot of other people have violated that rule over the months and years.

You're probably right, sac -- especially since neither of the Brothers Ross have intervened.

It is another track to try, however, since I do see people advertising who are looking for an apartment. mfpark might get some leads there from folks who don't read the threads.

@mfpark - is your son still looking? I may have a lead.
