Anybody been to block island?

DH and I are looking to go away for a few days at the end of August. I would like beach or water views. Any opinions on block island or other beach destinations...not the jersey shore? Ti

My daughter and her family are headed there today. They are staying at a B&B. She told me that you have to make some kind of reservations to bring you car on the island, otherwise is goes into a parking lot off the island somewhere. Mostly they plan on beaching it since that is the main thing to do there, sorry, I am not more helpful, maybe someone else will chime in.

Block Island is amazing! We go every year and a lot of the houses and ferry reservations fill up back in January/February. But some B&Bs might have availability. There are also homes on VRBO. If you want to bring your car (and you likely do unless you are avid bikers) call Block Island Ferry asap for your car reservation. It is beautiful and quiet and the people who live and vacation there are lovely. There are a fair number of restaurants and shops but it is not a crowded or very moneyed kind of place and there is little to no "night life" if that is important to you. The landscape is incredible and there are beautiful beaches, hiking, biking, and views such that you can hardly believe this is Rhode Island and not some farther off land. I cant say enough good things about block island. Enjoy!
