Any Organ (instrument) lovers out there?

Tried posting in Freecyle but maybe a general post can help

We have a Kimball Swinger line organ that was left in a house we bought - it is in fine working condition -- we really hate to put it in a dumpster but have not found a taker

Anyone know a church or something ??

Thanks

I would go to the phone book and call a bunch of churches and schools, too. Perhaps a local school's music department would be interested. It does seem a shame to throw it out.

I'd suggesting posting on the NYC Craigslist... some hipster-indie music geek might enjoy something like this for their studio. Adds a bit of quirkiness to recordings.

RE: Churches - I wouldn't bother. I played organ in churches for 15 years and would never consider this. Maybe for the kids and fun, but not for service music. It's a toy. ;-)

Do you know the exact model #?

Or a cemetery. Friends of mine got a donated one for the chapel in the mausoleum.

I was not thinking of services, ComposerJohn. Most churches have pianos in classrooms or meeting rooms, so I though maybe a small organ such as this could work for them.

ComposerJohn -- Many churches can not afford anything fancier than this; I'm happy for you that yours could. Conversely, I went to a tango event recently that included an accordion or bandoneon. One Wikipedia (or similar) entry on those instruments, in its history section, claimed that they were used in churches that could not afford organs. This last Sunday I went to a concert that showed off a rebuilt Schantz organ in a prosperous church here in the city of St. Louis. It was nice for them that they could afford the original organ as well as its rebuilding; many churches can't. I enjoyed the music on a theoretical level (wonderful composers featured), although in general I am not a fan of pipe organ music, even though I studied classical piano for 12 years, harpsichord for one semester, and organ for one semester. Sure, the organist was highly talented, but you are never going to get me to like the inescapably muddy pipe organ sound, and I've been to quite a few concerts featuring different pipe organs, by different organists, at different churches and halls, with different acoustics. Different strokes, ya know? I'm not a fan of the operatic voice either, although I respect the hard work and talent. I occasionally go to an opera that has a particular hook me pulling me in, but it would never be to hear a particular singer.
