For some reason, clicking on the link just brought me back to this thread. So I copy/pasted it to a new browser tab and that worked but it wasn't a "gift" article, so I had to log in to my WSJ account. Here is a "gift link" that should work for anyone: https://www.wsj.com/personal-finance/a-small-fortune-36-grandkids-and-an-inheritance-stuck-in-limbo-780c8c99?st=NMGiYh&reflink=desktopwebshare_permalink (Can someone who doesn't have a WSJ subscription check it??)
And, yes, what a nightmare! Reminds me to check my beneficiary designations and confirm with my advisors!
Had to sign in with an existing account or apply for a "free" account through a Google or Facebook account to read the article.

You can see the article in the "gift link" in my post above.
Sorry about the difficulty opening the WSJ article. I have posted many Journal links on MOL without an issue. Thanks for the assist — it is an important article for elderly and their beneficiaries— maybe some banks did not approve of the word getting out? That was a joke, but after our family’s recent confrontation maybe I am paranoid for a good reason!

I was using your gift link.
The gift link worked for me. The was a pop-up wanting me to sign in, but I clicked it away and the article was there without having to do anything
Thank you for posting that. I tried again and discovered that the problem was the magnification at which the zoom is set on my computer. Lowering the zoom enabled me to find the x that cleared the pop up box.

Having just resolved — this afternoon, God willing — a protracted estate issue, I found this article from the WSJ tonight . Hope it helps give families a heads-up.
