Am I the only one watching Fargo?

Please tell me no! I thought I would miss the old cast, especially Billy Bob, but I don't! I simply don't! This season is stellar! Smartly written with just enough violence for my liking. Truly a brilliantly written show. The cast is phenomenal. Jean Smart is so kick ass as the matriarch momma. Love it.

We watch it.  Mr. mjh really loves it.  I have a love/hate relationship with it but agree it's extremely well written and acted.  Sometimes it's just too dark for me to enjoy, I think.

Love it, when I remember to catch it. Had no idea at the outset how this series would go, but they've pulled off quite a bit of darkly good TV.

I think it's great.  And Jean Smart is riveting.

LOVE it. And I think more than the first season, which I loved as well. There's just the right amount of humor mixed in to make it really work for me in a way that a lot of other "acclaimed" TV often doesn't. (i.e., Walking Dead, while I still watch it every week, bores the crap out of me, and The Leftovers is even worse.)

Show is solid - still on the fence as to whether this season is better - Billy Bob is hard to top.  Haven't seen this week's episode yet.

The funny thing with all of the Fargo movies/shows - they start off by saying this is a true story - names changed, etc, but none of them are based on a true story.

Right?! It's a long running gag.

Does anyone know people who live in this region? I'm curious to know if the accents are true or have the actors added a little bit of emphasis?

Been wanting to watch it. Does it stream on Netflix or Amazon Prime?

Not sure about Net or Amazon but you can watch via your cable provider by signing in. They have full episodes available.

"One detail from the show repeatedly piqued my curiosity: each episode begins with the same prologue claiming the events that take place in the story are real and only the names have been changed to protect the identities of the victims. The movie began in a similar way, and though I initially assumed it was some ironic joke I maybe didn't quite understand, I looked it up anyway. Turns out there is a case the Coen brothers drew from when writing the original 1996 movie, and it is gruesome. Remember the wood chipper? This is the case that inspired that part of the movie."

Anyone finish the series? I was disappointed in the final two episodes.

Really? I thought they were superb. Maybe it's the violence that has you thrown? The second to last episode was epic. Hanzee, the Native American, really got his revenge (of what, still unsure but it could be a host of things working with that family). And don't forget the UFO! The UFO theme has been present since the start. My friend thinks that Hanzee is really a Gerhardt (sp?). A child of an affair from Otto Gerhardt and the Native American woman who is the house cook. Interesting...

Loved seeing the old cast members during Molly's dream.

I loved the episodes, especially "The Castle", which I think may be one of the greatest things I've seen on television ever.   My sense is that Hanzee gets his own season.

It wasn't the violence, I expected that.  Didn't like the narrator, UFO theme, split screen, and Molly's dream. IMO they were unnecessary.  The scenes with Hanzee were so gripping on their own.  There was a plaque on a building that said 22 Sioux had been hanged on that site. He had also endured ridicule because of his race. Maybe that sign put him over the edge along with the treatment by the Gerhardts. The other characters were very good and the tension was high in all the scenes, but it was Hanzee who amazed.

The Castle was a great episode - better then the finale.

More action packed? Sure. More exciting. Yes, of course. Better? I don't know.

It was the aftermath of The Castle. What else could it have been?

Who was the man sitting with Hanzee at the baseball field?

Presumably, the man was someone Hanzee hired to give him a new identity...What a great, great series!

I really liked the series, but I thought the space ship was really an odd and inappropriate addition.

I've never seen it but plan on starting soon.  Do I need to start with Season 1 or can I jump right into Season 2 (which I've heard is much better)?

tongue rolleye You should immediately stop getting your reviews from whoever told you that. grin

I think both seasons have easily been among the best TV has had to offer in recent years. Which is saying something, because there is a lot of really good TV being made these days.

That said, though the two seasons are very much intertwined in terms of some of the characters, the stories are independent of each other. Nothing in Season 2 requires the viewer to have any knowledge of Season 1.

So any guesses as to who Hanzee will come back as? I'm assuming he will be coming back.

I'd like to see Hanzee find out something about this.

If you recall, there was a scene where Hanzee got new (fake) ID from a guy as they sat on bleachers watching some kids play on a baseball field. The name on the ID was "Moses Tripoli."

In Season 1, Moses Tripoli was the name of the leader of the Fargo Mob.

This is Moses Tripoli in season 1.

Right.  In the same scene (on the bleachers) there was also some discussion of finding a good "face man" to give Hansee a completely new look. I guess he found one. grin

I think Hanzee Dent becomes Arthur Dent, who hops aboard the passing UFO while Martin Freeman narrates.

Here is a good interview with Zahn McClarnon (Hanzee). He describes what happened to his character.
