All 3 Tom Cruise Marriages Ended When Wives Were 33! archived

Now that is weird.
Well... not to be sexist, but when a woman reaches a certain age it gets harder and harder to pretend that she's a teenaged boy.

Wasn't that his jersey number in a movie? Yup, all the right moves.

oh oh

Case,
snake
Seriously, does that number have a significance in Scientology? Does 3 wives at 33 prove a pattern, or do we need to wait for #4? And assuming that he needs at least one or two more years, and a marriage contract of 5 years before the next one turns 33, how young is his future bride now??? (I cant do the word problems on Saturdays...)

The future Mrs. Cruise would be 26 now... Given they meet and marry in the next two years.

OMG case, LOL!!! I don't think Scientology had anything to do with it inasmuch as him planning the divorces, because they say he was blindsided by this; and the fact that Katie is seeking sole custody of Suri. I think the women left him at 33 because coincidentally, that is the age that each of them finally realized he is truly crazy...OR, they knew much earlier, but didn't have the guts to leave until they were a little more mature!

All kidding aside, and I'm talking out my ass here (as usual), but I wonder if the church of scientology buys them out at a certain point with a cash settlement and gag agreement?

What exactly happens if people break secrecy clauses? Do they get jail time?

I would imagine you get sued. So... if you and I had an agreement for you not to mention something and you violated that agreement I would have to hire lawyers and get after you in court.

Since the church of scientology has a lot of money, and let me stress a LOT of money, they have a lot of power. Couple that with Tom Cruise's net worth (and ability to litigate) and you've got a force to be reckoned with!

All the Scientology craziness aside, he's not a great actor. He's clearly a movie star, but not a great actor. A huge difference.
Did anyone see him in Valkyrie? A very compelling and interesting story, the July 1944 attempt on Hitler's life. Only Tom Cruise could make such a story seem like Mission Impossible 3 or 4 or whatever number he's up to. When I watched Valkyrie, I kept saying to myself there's Tom Cruise trying to act like a German Lt. Colonel and it just isn't working.

Contrast him with a "lesser known", like Forrest Whitaker in The Last King of Scotland. When I watched that movie, I was watching Idi Amin, and not once did I think I was watching an actor portraying him. That's acting.

Good for Katie to have finally wised up. I heard that Tom, prior to Katie, approached Scarlett Johansen through his Scientology minions, and wanted to marry her. She told him to get lost. But Katie had a schoolgirl crush on Tom, and was not independent. Just what he wanted and kind of creepy.

I think that woman wants to get her daughter out of his grip. Its about time cause that man has always been creepy. I never knew what women saw in him ...he always gave me the creeps.

Him jumping around on that sofa with Oprah - very creepy. It was him trying to convince the masses that this isn't an arranged/fake relationship,
it's true love! Another bad acting job.

The fact is he divorced Nichole Kidman when he did since had they been married any longer they would have exceeded the 10 year time span that would have made her eligible for much more money in the distribution of assets. She was blindsided by the divorce largely the way he is surprised now.

He's our Tony Curtis.

I know about Nicole Kidman and Katie Holmes. Who was the 3rd wife?

Mimi Rogers (1987–1990). Among other things, she starred in "Someone To Watch Over Me" with Tom Berenger...great movie. She got wise but quick!

Mimi Rogers is the one who introduced Tom Cruise to Scientology.

Well...that part is particularly yucky. But I opine that Scientology isn't the only bug that makes TC NUTS...

I just cruised around wikipedia and learned that Greta Van Susteren is a practicing Scientologist, and that Jerry Seinfeld took some courses back when and thought them very useful.

Enormous "ick."

Oh, god. ICK is right. :0&

And bettyd, I couldn't agree more. I'd rather watch a real actor any day of the week. I liked Tom Cruise in Risky Business, but not very much since then. I enjoyed that crazy movie where he was playing a spy with tongue firmly planted in cheek, because it seemed he was laughing at himself and his roles in the Mission Impossible genre, but mostly he seems to be drinking his own Koolaid. Blech.

Well Greta von Susteren is a nut anyway. Scientology just adds to the mix. Jerry - that's disappointing.

Maybe he found them useful for comedy purposes?

I know a woman who went to college with Greta von Susteren, and she said she's always been nuts.

Who knows? Just look over the list of some of the better known adherents, or dabblers. Most seem to have had major substance abuse issues in the past that some form of Scientology helped with.
