Al fresco dining in SOMA?

One of the things I'm missing this time of year is eating outside. What are some kid friendly outdoor eating spots in the area?

I noticed the umbrellas are up at McLoones. Tables are out front of Roman Gourmet.

A great place for kids is the courtyard area in Millburn, since they can run around and play in the fountain and there's no traffic. The tables there belong to Charlie Brown's, but I've eaten at the tables with food from elsewhere and they didn't care. I'm pretty sure the Greek place has outdoor tables there as well, and La Strada has its own outdoor seating area right by the courtyard.

Stony's in South Orange has an outdoor patio with tables and umbrellas.

Parkwood has picnic tables on the back deck! And yes, we love "Stony's beach."

Beware that at Toro loco people smoke outside. Last time I took my kids there was a table of smokers and when I asked they told me it was permitted outside. The space is not big enough to not be effected by the smoke, so this made it very un-kid friendly.

I had no idea toro loco had al fresco dining!

I saw folks eating outside at Arturo's today

Same situation at bunnys.

Surprised that's still legal; I would have assumed it wouldn't be by now. That's unfortunate.

Maybe it's not. But people do it.
Last I was outside at Above it was the same thing. Smokers.

Thanks for the recs and heads up everyone. Sounds like there are options, especially in SO.

Dunno whether al fresco dining hard upon a busy S.O. Ave. has much appeal, but if that's your thing, you can do it at Falafel-ly Yours...

-s.

Funny, people used to sneer when I whined about the lack of a middle-eastern restaurant, but look what a success it's become.

I hope its a success. I see an empty restaurant frequently when I walk by at dinner time. I worry about them.

Actually busy street dining reminds me of the city. It's appealing for now, but my kid is highchair age! I've been meaning to try The falafel place oh oh

We had lunch outside at The Parkwood today and it was delightful!

Love the patio at the Park Wood diner!
