Abril Cocina, a modern Mexican fusion restaurant, has opened at 175 Maplewood Avenue, Maplewood, under the direction of executive chef/owner Mario Valadez and chef de cuisine Johangel Rosario, who are both graduates of the Institute of Culinary Education. Menu items include: mole chicken wings, brisket tacos, quinoa chile relleno, and buttermilk churros. Open Tuesday through Sunday from 5 PM. Reservations: 973-327-2023; BYO.
