A New Restaurant in our Future? Highland Place License to be transferred.

The Village Green is reporting the possibility of Highland Place's liquor license being transferred to the old Banco Santander building on Springfield.

A new restaurant in our future?

I think that is two different transactions. So the transfer to "The Wine Barrel" at the old bank location (is that a restaurant or a retail store?) is different from the transfer of Highland Place license to the building owner (where I assume he will want to keep it for a new tenent).

Two transactions, but one result.

The license is not a retail license, it must be used for a service establishment like a bar or restaurant. The owner of the license is a person, the location transfer is the site of the business. One needs both a person and a building for a business like this, no?

Yes that is two separate items

I read that a discount liquor store will be going into the Santander bank building on Springfield Avenue. Not the best outcome for that retail site.

"Wine Barrel" sounds somewhat upscale.

Am I wrong about there being two different types of licenses?

As opposed to "Cracker Barrel," or to "Wine Box"? cheese

There are two types but the agenda does not specify which type is being referred to.

I don't know. I hope so - I would hope that the Highland Place location would not be giving up it's liquor license.

A long time ago there was a retail liquor store attached to Highland Place, I think where the bar is now. Maybe that is the liquor license they are referring to.

I still think the Santander location would make a cool restaurant, though.

Look at the agenda. It is definitely two different transactions just being heard on the same night.

Two completely unrelated transactions. Glad to see that the HP transfer finally cleared the background check.

seems like there's a high likelihood the license will be used in the HP space if it went to the landlord. I don't know the ABC laws, but I wonder if this means the landlord will also need to be an official partner in any business on premise that uses the license.

whatever it is and whatever its called, let's hope its actually good.

Yay! Some things are definitely going on and I for one, cannot wait!

I'm composing the first bad review right now and I'll post it shortly. I want to throw out the first pan, and on MOL, the first trashing of a new place is usually within the first few hours of the soft open. I'm going to get a head start.

that reminds me. The "review" of HP's neat nachos is an MOL classic.

OMG. I'd forgotten about this. oh oh

you have to love a person commenting that the food was condescending to him/her.

Sorry, found this thread when looking for something else. Couldn't resist.

I realized there really wasn't much of a rush
