[Reviving this discussion] Looking for Gynecologist that specializes in "older ladies"

There was a thread about this in 2010 but it is now closed and I was wondering if anyone has recent suggestions.

I am looking to replace my lovely OB/GYN with someone who can help me navigate a rather complicated menopause. I feel like my GP and by GYN are both non-experts when I ask about symptoms, types of hormone replacement therapy and osteoporosis treatment options.

You should see Winsome Parchment. She's across from the Parkwood Diner.

That's like the best name I ever heard. grin

I second Dr. Parchment. Great doctor.

Dr. Parchment is amazing!

I also like Dr. Parchment.

You might try Daria Klachko in West Orange, who specializes in perimenopause and menopause. I have only seen her once and I'm in the "peri" category, so I can't vouch for how she would deal with a complicated menopause. But I liked her a lot!

(She just joined Summit Medical Group - not sure if that would be a positive or negative for you. For me it was a positive because my GP is there.)

Thank you all.
My teenagers see Dr. Klachko, I had no idea she had the specialty in menopause!
I have always heard such good things about Dr. Parchment as well.

Klachko. Bonus: she no longer delivers.

Just called Dr Klachko's office, cannot get appt before November!

Any other recommendations for Gynecologist who specializes in Menopause?

Dr. Richard Luciani (Millburn OB/GYN Associates) doesn't specialize in menopause, but certainly has many patients dealing with this issue. He's been my doctor for over 30 years; I find him easy to talk to, he listens to what I am saying and doesn't dismiss any concerns. The practice is accepting new patients, if you'd like to check it out. Contact info: 973-467-9440, 235 Millburn Ave, Millburn, NJ. I don't have the website info right now, but I'll add a link later.

Based on this thread, last year I started seeing Dr. Klachko.  Loved her but as of May she stopped practicing altogether.  So frustrating to find a good GYN and have that happen, le sigh. Any updated recommendations for GYNs specializing in peri menopause and fibroids?

In my experience, this is pretty typical in most specialties when going to a doctor for the first time.  I'm experiencing same with a new dermatologist I'm trying to see.  (Just as I got to the long awaited appointment date, I had an out-of-town funeral to attend, so now I'm waiting another six weeks for the next available new appointment.)

I was a patient of Dr. Klacho and was referred to another doctor in the practice. Nothing bad to report, but when I made next year's appointment I said I preferred someone else next time. The office staff suggested Susan Pitman.

I too have been searching for a GYN. I went to 1 at SMG, but was not happy with her bedside manner and would prefer not to return.

Another issue I'm running into is many of docs that have been recommeded either aren't accepting new patients or don't accept Medicare. Anyone else running into this problem?

I am a patient of Tammy Hamilton. SMG sent me a letter dated June 8, received the beginning of July. I called last week to book an appointment and the receptionist said she had no appointments before October but that her calendar was not posted for October. I was like, how then do I book an appointment? They said they would add me to the cancellation list and then they'd contact me. Doesn't seem very efficient.

Thanks to all for input.  The situation with SMG receptionist saying calendar not yet posted sounds strange indeed.  When I originally booked 1st appt with Dr. Klachko, I called in May or June and received an October date.
