#cosbymeme - Well, that didn't turn out so well...

somebody in the Cosby organization doesn't know what it can get like on the Twitter:

http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation-now/2014/11/10/bill-cosby-meme-generator/18832081/

There have always been stories of Cosby being a less than perfect man. Many of it was poo-pooed because of his clean comedy and his great tv dad persona. Then the stories of adultery, possibly fathering children outside of his marriage and other embarrassing items came to light.

My mom told me that stories relating to him being a rapist/sexually aggressive date wayyyyy back. I'm not shocked by anything anymore and wouldn't be shocked if this were true.

Hell, the biggest letdown of my life was when I heard that PeeWee Herman was supposed to have been in a porn theater, diddling himself. I was never able to watch PeeWee after that. But no matter, it was soon off the air.

Well, if it can be true for PeeWee, who says it can't be true for the Cos?

PeeWee was also a streaker or something, right?

There are too many accusations against Cosby to not believe they're true

I heard he was a sniper in Vietnam.

Cosby, unlike Herman, had the edge of being a nice, normal family man (whatever that is supposed to mean). Therefore, the whisperings were just that and no investigations ever came about. Until now. Several of these women seemed determined not to be victimized by silence and shame.

the allegations are awful, and I am not minimizing what these women apparently went through. But having said that, the Twitter responses to #cosbymeme are pretty funny.

It's a drag. I loved his standup and The Cosby Show is such a great family-friendly program that I enjoy watching with my kids. I don't minimize what happened either, but as someone that has no direct connection, it's not hard for me to separate the person from their creative work. It still makes me laugh.

Also a big Pee-Wee Herman fan - that movie is another all-time favorite at our house. I went to see his Broadway show a few years back and it was phenomenal. He's apparently working on a new movie with Judd Apatow.

The only victims in the PeeWee case are (possibly) some movie theater upholstery and the sensitivities of millions of prudish Americans who would never, ever touch themselves in a dirty way like that!

And a whole generation of children who grew up on PeeWee's Playhouse and are scarred for life cheese

Though in fairness, he kinda creeped me out before that.

Pee Wee's alter ego, Paul Reubens, has made an appearance in 2 episodes of "The Blacklist" this season.

Show for show, Pee's Playhouse produced far more successful stars than Cosby ever did.

Laurence Fishburn
Natasha Lyonne
Phil Hartman (was he a star prior to Pee Wee?)
The female police chief from Law & Order S. Epatha Merkenson (sp?)
Jimmy Smits

C'mon! Paul Reubens could definitely spot talent. What's the cast from The Cosby Show doing right now? So far, I know that Malcolm Jamal Warner appears on Major Crimes and sometimes appears on Sons of Anarchy.

Well, Phylicia Rashad is spectacular... But regardless, we certainly we can't discount the significance of The Cosby Show overall. Doesn't mean that should excuse any of this behavior if true, of course.

Hmm, I would cross both Jimmy Smits and Laurence Fishburne, who both have been around BEFORE PeeWee Playhouse. Laurence acted in a few PBS specials and show as a child and was in Cornbread Earl and Me. His famous line, "they killed Cornbread, they killed Cornbread!" Love that Movie. He also had a supporting role in Apocalypse Now.

Jimmy did a short stint on Miami Vice and was a returning actor on L.A. Law (1980’s). Both were known before being involved in Pee Wee's Playhouse.

The heck with Jell-O. Cosby would have made a great spokesperson for NyQuil or Benadryl. NyQuil shots anyone? Creep.

You'd think Cosby's handlers would have tread carefully after the Paula Deen meme evisceration.

here's a pretty good one:

S. Apothecary Apostrophe! (I usually blurt that out when I can't recall her name)

Bill Cosby's Late Show Appearance Cancelled
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/11/14/bill-cosby-letterman-cancel_n_6160866.html

Here's a horribly uncomfortable moment from an NPR interview last weekend. Ouch.

http://www.npr.org/2014/11/17/364641081/cosby-remains-silent-on-sexual-assault-allegations

I listen to NPR and heard the interview. At first I thought it was radio dead air before the interviewer interceded and announced that Cosby would not respond. Another woman has come forward with allegations:

http://www.nydailynews.com/entertainment/gossip/lawyer-bill-cosby-won-address-sexual-abuse-allegations-article-1.2012654

Nothing has been proven, but you have to think where there's smoke (and a lot of it), there's fire. I can see how one he said-she said could be just a case of a psycho gold digger or something, but with multiple allegations out there, it's really hard to believe the Cos.
I think he's done professionally. At age 77 I guess he thought he was home free and would go to the grave as the beloved Cos, but not so fast!

Eww, he deserves what he's getting. These codger celebrities don't understand that they can't control social media or spin it to their advantage.

The man hasn't said a really funny thing in years. I hear him often on an internet comedy channel and he puts me right to sleep.

This is vaguely reminiscent of Joe Paterno in that the guy was a huge success and idolized, until suddenly late in life, the music stops, and it stops hard.
I agree Cos deserves what he's getting. Go ahead speak (and say nothing) through your lawyer, yeah that planned NBC series will happen.

hmm...

Comments have of course been disabled.

If Cosby was innocent wouldn't he be taking legal action against some or all of his accusers? It seems his silence and the stories about lawsuits being settled out of court are pretty damning.
