Trilogy: An Opera Company – Garvey

American bass Kevin Maynor stars in the title role of Garvey, a dramatic new opera about political activist and orator Marcus Garvey, presented by Trilogy: An Opera Company. A story told through beautiful music by Michael Raphael, Garvey takes audiences on a journey into the Black Nationalism movement of the mid-1900s through the lifework of the founder of the Universal Negro Improvement Association (UNIA). The Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. once said of Garvey, “He was the first man, on a mass scale and level, to give millions of Negroes a sense of dignity and destiny.”
