Following a description of the concept of non-monetary sharing of skills and services, its growing popularity and the way it is taking shape in our community, a portion of the documentary “Fixing the Future” will be screened, showing how the Portland Hour Exchange with its 1,000 active members operates. Broadcaster David Brancaccio, host in the documentary, and its Emmy-award winning producer/director Mary Olive Smith will discuss their experience in making the documentary and answer questions from the audience. David Brancaccio is a resident of South Orange. Mary Olive Smith lives in Maplewood. Mathilde Benveniste, a founding member of Essex Time Exchange (a local Time Bank) and a research engineer in wireless communications, lives in South Orange.
