Those Crazy Victorians

Those Crazy Victorians: Plantsmanship in Great Britain circa 1837-1901. The practice of horticulture during the reign of Queen Victoria was particularly fervent. The Elizabeth Donnell Kay Rare Book Collection contains many volumes from this period. We’ll study books on orchids and ferns, works from the colonies, books by Charles Darwin, the travels of Robert Fortune, and ivy, which the Victorians embraced as particularly well suited for funereal needs. The fee includes a one year Individual Membership to The Friends of The Frelinghuysen Arboretum. All proceeds benefit the Rare Book Collection.
