The Hot Sardines

Event Date: October 9th, 2016 at 3:00pm - 5:30pm
Address : New Jersey Performing Arts Center, One Center Street, Newark, NJ
Town : Newark
Information:

The Sardine sound is steeped in straight-up, foot-stomping jazz, salty stride piano, and the kind of music Louis Armstrong, Django Reinhardt and Fats Waller used to make. “One of the best jazz bands in New York City today” (Forbes) The Hot Sardines reinvent hot jazz for the 21st century with glamour, grit and passion. Led by Parisian singer and songwriter “Miz Elizabeth” Bougerol and stride piano player and bandleader Evan “Bibs” Palazzo, the band encompasses a blustery brass lineup, a rhythm section led by stride piano, and Miz Elizabeth’s English and French vocals. Their sound fuses musical influences from New York, Paris and New Orleans, from the Prohibition era through the Great Depression, World War II and beyond. Hear hits from past albums and their latest studio recording, French Fries & Champagne.
