TBA Sports Breakfast with Bobby Valentine, For

On Sunday morning January 31, the Men\'s Club of Temple B\'nai Abraham will hold its annual sports breakfast at the temple, 300 East Northfield Road, Livingston. The speaker for this year’s event is former Major League Baseball player and manager Bobby Valentine. The breakfast and check-in will begin at 9:00 AM and the program will begin at 10:00 AM. There cost is $18 for adults or $36 for a family, children must be accompanied by an adult. There will be raffles for door prizes, which include signed memorabilia. A delicious hot and cold breakfast buffet prepared by Men’s Club members. Have any jerseys that don\'t fit anymore? Donate any new or gently-used major league sports jerseys! This “jersey” donation project is only for the attendees of the event. The collected jerseys will be distributed this winter to various boys clubs in Essex County. For each jersey donated, the donor attendee will receive one raffle ticket. Bring in those Baseball, Basketball, Football or Hockey jerseys for a good cause! Bobby Valentine was drafted fifth in the 1968 MLB draft by the Los Angeles Dodgers. He went on to play10 season in the majors with the Dodgers, Padres, Angels, Mets and Mariners. After playing, Valentine was the manager for the Texas Rangers starting in 1985. Valentine took over managing the New York Mets in 1996 and led them to back-to-back postseasons, including a 2000 World Series appearance. He also managed twice in Japan and with the Boston Red Sox. Valentine also has experience in the broadcast booth as he’s done work on ESPN, SNY, MLB Network and NBC. The Stamford, CT native owns and runs a successful restaurant in town called Bobby Valentine’s Sports Gallery Café.
