Address : 60 Woodland Rd.
Town : Maplewood
Information:

The Maplewood Garden Club presents “Replacing the Green Desert: Native Plant Alternatives to Turf”, a lecture confronting the great American love affair with the Green Desert (aka lawn,) and it’s long tradition of very high ecological cost. Exotic grass lawns are virtual wastelands in our local ecosystems, providing little to our native species, while demanding tremendous amounts of water, labor, and fertilizer. Kim Eierman explains how to turn a lifeless lawn into a thriving ecological system filled with native plant alternatives.
Eierman is the Founder of EcoBeneficial LLC. She is an environmental horticulturist and ecological landscape designer specializing in native plants. Based in New York, Kim teaches at the New York Botanical Garden, Brooklyn Botanic Garden, The Native Plant Center, Rutgers Home Gardeners School, and several other institutions. In addition to being a Certified Horticulturist through the American Society for Horticultural Science, Kim is an Accredited Organic Landcare Professional, a Steering Committee member of The Native Plant Center, and a member of The Ecological Landscape Alliance and Garden Communicators International. Hear Kim at 60 Woodland Rd in Maplewood, on Monday, March 4th at 7:30pm. Her presentation will follow a brief business meeting.
