The Modern Village Presents: Raising Spiritually Healthy Children Among Material Wealth, with Stephanie Jelley Many of today\'s families are blessed with an abundance of material goods. Toys, books, and clothing are available everywhere. Digital devices seamlessly serve up new games, movies and music at the touch of a button. And that’s a good thing, right? But what is the effect on our children when they are surrounded by a world of things that break easily, are demonstrably replaceable and keep filling our houses? Will they come to equate possessions with happiness? Will they extend the same feelings towards people and relationships — that they too are easily disposed of? In this class, Stephanie Jelley will lead a discussion on teaching children value in a world that puts a price tag on everything. She will discuss the benefits of bringing mindfulness to our daily living; the importance of giving and sharing, and the importance of community service for teaching children that they too are responsible for the well-being of their family members, home and community. This workshop will be lead by Stephanie Jelley, Chief Executive Officer of umojawa, a company dedicated to promoting and celebrating the successes of non-profit and volunteer work. Jelley is a facilitator of Mindfulness Without Borders and a public speaker on the increasing need for mindfulness and social-emotional learning tools in our classrooms.
