NJP Week: How To Talk to the Creature in Your Car: A Survival Guide for Parents of Teenagers Giving kids the message about bullying in school is just one piece of the equation. Making them feel safe and confident and comfortable in their own skin requires that we, as parents, really understand them. That’s not easy when your teenager speaks a foreign language, but adolescent motivational speaker and AIDS/HIV educator Scott Fried is here to help with the translation. Scott has spoken with thousands of teens around the world. In this moving presentation, he reveals the secrets most teens would like to keep from their parents, and shares specific strategies and techniques on parenting a teenager (not only LGBT, but all teens) through this difficult time of adolescent angst and their experiences as the newest members of the sexual community. A talk-back session following Scott’s presentation will allow parents to ask their own questions. Wine & cheese reception and lecture. 8-10pm, The Parish Hall at St. George’s Episcopal Church, $5 suggested donation. Co-sponsored by St. George\'s.
