Admission is free. The first, Celebrations in Newark: 1916 to 2016, describes how the festivities of 1916, 1966 – and now 2016 – included rousing displays of civic pride. Walter Chamber, a participant in the planning of the 1966 celebration, moderates a panel of historians who will discuss these past anniversaries and highlights of the upcoming sesquarcentennial. Upcoming conversations include Newark’s Jewish Frontier: Weequahic and Its High School on March 14, Puritans, Protesters and Patriots: Newark in the Colonial Period on April 18, and Progressives and Reformers: Newark Takes the Lead on June 20.
