My Favorite Things: Richard Rodgers

Bill Charlap, one of the world’s premier jazz pianists, has performed and recorded with many leading artists of our time, ranging from jazz masters Phil Woods and Wynton Marsalis to iconic vocalists Tony Bennett and Barbra Streisand. A two-time Grammy Award nominee and a regular on the New York City jazz and cabaret scenes, Charlap is widely recognized as a master interpreter of The Great American Songbook, known for using popular standards to illustrate how a jazz musician can honor tradition and still be sublimely creative. For this edition of his Jazz Songbook series at NJPAC, Charlap and company celebrate the songs of American musical theater titan Richard Rodgers. Joining Charlap for this performance are vocalist Sandy Stewart, alto saxophonist Jaleel Shaw, trumpeter Terell Stafford, bassist Peter Washington, and drummer Willie Jones III.
