Talented young winners of this year’s International Association for Musically Gifted Children, Inc. piano competition perform beloved works by Chopin in a free concert celebrating the centennial of iconic pianist Sviatoslav Richter. The performers (ages 5-16), who study with Dr. Bella E. Oster, principal of the European Academy of Music and Art, Inc. in Maryland, present a program of the best of Chopin’s mazurkas, polonaises, waltzes, scherzos, ballades, impromptus, etudes and sonatas. Many of Oster’s students have been featured on recordings, were winners of major music competitions, and appeared on the world’s greatest concert stages, including the Kennedy Center, Carnegie Hall, Walt Disney Concert Hall, the National Arts Centre in Canada, the Kraków Philharmonic in Poland, the Musikverein in Austria, the Gasteig in Germany, Liszt Academy Concert Hall in Hungary, the concert halls of Oxford and Cambridge universities in England, and numerous other venues in the U.S. and abroad. Admission is free. Seating is first-come, first-served on day of performance.
