As wonderful and rewarding as parenting is, it is a challenging undertaking at best. Even with our best intentions, our emotions can lead us in directions that are not thoughtful or effective. Fortunately, the skill of mindfulness can help us to respond to our children out of thoughtfulness and connection, rather than emotional reactivity. This series can help you: : • Learn to respond more mindfully and less reactively • Understand your reactivity and triggers • Learn and practice tools to help you feel more present • Develop confidence in your parenting strategies and choices When: Five Wednesdays mornings 2014: March 26, April 2, 9, 23, 30 10:15-11:30 am Where: 108 Baker Street in Maplewood Village Cost: $200/series How: Register by writing to Dr. Handelman at drrobh@hotmail.com or call 646-232-0013. For more information go to www.robhandelman.com/group.html Dr. Rob Handelman, a Clinical Psychologist and psychotherapist in both NYC and NJ, specializes in a mindfulness-based, values-directed therapy and training called ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Training). Through his private practice, workshops and psychotherapy groups, he helps people relate differently to difficult feelings and behaviors, make deeper connections with themselves and others, and achieve results in their lives. \"The wonderful gift of mindfulness is that we can stop ourselves and ask: What am I feeling? What is it like from my child\'s point of view? When you can do that, you often see things that you didn\'t let yourself see before because you were so caught up in the reactive mode, which is very limiting.\" — Myla Kabat-Zinn
