The Mid-Autumn Moon Festival began centuries ago in China as a way to give thanks for a good harvest. Its traditions and myths center around the Moon, which we will celebrate in crafts, food and entertainment. Chinese Theater Works, a non-profit theatre company located in Long Island City, N.Y. will kick off the afternoon with a shadow puppet performance of “Tiger Tales”. This wry fable is appropriate for children ages 5+. Following their performance, a variety of crafts, tours and games are offered along with the opportunity to sample a number of traditional Chinese holiday refreshments. This program is presented through the generosity of UPS and Kam Man, Inc. Doors open at 12:30, performance begins at 1:00pm.
