Address : Maplewood Memorial Library, 51 Baker Street
Town : Maplewood
Information:

If you wonder how to eat locally grown food in our northern climate, where you can’t pick tomatoes for sauce in February, come to the October 1st meeting of the Maplewood Garden Club where Leda Meredith will talk about food preservation. Leda has been preserving fresh food and foraging since she was a kid, and is the author of The Locavore’s Handbook: The Busy Person’s Guide to Eating Local on a Budget, and Botany, Ballet and dinner from Scratch: A memoir with Recipes. Leda also teaches food preservation and other food-related topics for the New York Botanical Garden, the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, Green Edge Collaborative, and Genesis farm and has a certification in Ethnobotany from the New York Botanical Garden. Come find out how to reduce your carbon footprint, be able to eat local foods all year and have fresh ingredients to work with in the kitchen all year-round. Monday, October 1, 7:30 PM at the Maplewood Memorial Library, 51 Baker St., Maplewood, NJ. The meeting is open to the public, admission is free and refreshments (often home made!) are served.
