KEEPING IT ALL: What we hold on to, why and is the

We all become attached to possessions and for a variety of reasons. We think some things may be useful (someday), or we find them aesthetically pleasing, or they hold sentimental memories. It could also be that we are afraid to let go. Eventually our lives become filled with possessions that burden us. Join three professionals to reflect upon and understand our relationship with STUFF: Diane Thomson, Professional Organizer & Coach Kris Britt, Filmmaker Florence Weisz, Artist During the first of this two session workshop, Diane Thomson of Creative Organizing, LLC will discuss the complex behaviors of gathering and holding onto things, the cost of too much stuff and suggest ways to make choices that support healthier living. During the second session we will show and discuss the film “Packrat”, a fascinating documentary by filmmaker Kris Britt, which illuminates the complex personalities of hoarders and the impact on their lives and the lives of their loved ones. On display during the presentations will be Florence Weisz’s art exhibit “Cautionary and other Tales: The Blurry Line Between Collecting and Hoarding\" --- assemblages about the things we collect, the things we save…and the reasons, justifications and excuses for keeping it all. The artist will take participants on a brief tour of her exhibit. She\'ll tell a few \"Cautionary Tales\" - some funny and silly and some touching and sad. She\'ll show how unique collections can be honored so others might see and understand why they are so important to you. \"Keeping it All\" is a topic that generates enthusiastic participation and a desire to continue the conversation. Therefore following this workshop, a Clutter Clearing Support Group is scheduled for those who wish to address their concerns in a supportive, non-judgmental environment.
