Spending time in the annex where Anne Frank hid from the Nazis where he could hear the birds and church bells that she most likely heard additionally inspired his work, which was set to the libretto compiled and translated from the diary by Melanie Challenger. This choral work received a 2014 Grammy nomination for Best Choral Recording. Harmonium Choral Society is a leading choral arts organization in New Jersey, founded in 1979 and based in Morristown. Its all-volunteer chorus has been under the artistic direction of Dr. Anne Matlack since 1987. Instruments and multi-media will enhance the chorus’s performance of Annelies.
