Edgar Degas: Private Paradox

Event Date: April 19th, 2016 at 7:00pm - 8:30pm
Address : Black Box Theatre, Columbia High School, 17 Parker Ave.
Town : Maplewood
Information:

A leading figure of 19th-century artistic innovation, Edgar Degas rejected academic traditions and instead chose to chronicle modern life—ballet dancers, café culture, brothels, the races and intimate moments at the bath. He was a master of drawing, painting, sculpture, pastels and printmaking, as well as a curmudgeonly misogynist, caustic wit and intensely private ascetic. This illustrated talk will examine his life in depth and prepare you to enjoy MoMA’s upcoming exhibition, Edgar Degas: A Strange New Beauty. JANET MANDEL. Course: 008. Fee: $20. Tuesday, April 19, 7-8:30pm, CHS, Black Box Theatre
