Information:

The South Orange/Maplewood Community Coalition on Race’s spring forum is entitled, Conversations on Race: Facing Everyday Racism. The event on Wednesday, May 13th, will be held at Congregation Beth El, 222 Irvington Avenue in South Orange beginning at 7:30 PM. South Orange/Maplewood residents and neighbors from high school age through seniors are invited to participate in this free event. We especially invite participation from the various ethnic and racial groups in our community to share their personal anecdotes. Professor Michael Jeffries will guide the discussion using experience from his research, teaching of American Studies at Wellesley, as well as his first-hand knowledge of this community as an alumnus of our own Columbia High School. Following his comments, participants will break into small groups to share their own point of view. We hope to use this information to enhance our daily interactions as we live, work and play together. For more information, visit www.twotowns.org.
