BHM Art and Music Reception Join us for a reception with live music to celebrate our Black History Month art exhibits. Cathleen McCoy Bristol creates portraits, landscapes and spiritual works in watercolor and acrylic. She has always been fascinated by variations in the human race, which has led her to explore diverse expressions of tradition and to portray the beauty of all peoples. She is a former art instructor, has freelanced as a fashion illustrator and painter, and shows her work in local galleries. Objects, to Ahmondylla Best, tell stories. Gourds, cowrie shells, crystals, sterling silver, brass, copper, combs and mirrors are eloquent in representing narratives of human emotion and the female experience, and so Best incorporates these items into her multi-dimensional artistic practice. She is a visual artist and musician, author and composer, storyteller, performer, choreographer, filmmaker, director and educator. Music will be provided by Cedric Miller and students drum circle. Free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served. Saturday, February 9 1:30 pm at Main Library
