ABOUT THE AV HERO FUND
Remembering Angelo Vayas
In 2013, Angelo was diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer called Glioblastoma Multiforme, or GBM. Angelo did not let brain cancer define who he was, he fought it gallantly in order to stay here with us for as long as he could. His courage and strength were shining examples for all who knew him. At the age of 50, Angelo Vayas passed away after 2 years of battling his fight against brain cancer.
Angelo’s determination, fighting spirit and the support of family, friends and the Maplewood/South Orange community are the inspiration for The AV Hero Fund.
Our Mission: To Find a Cure!
Angelo Vayas was a well-regarded, active and philanthropic member of his community. Angelo's legacy is one of compassion, helping those in need, providing assistance to local organizations. The AV Hero Fund was formed so that Angelo’s legacy that he left to the community continues.
The AV Hero Fund is a charitable organization that will honor and provide assistance to community members who have that same fighting spirit. The AV Hero Funds will provide the means and resources to help these individuals with their emergency needs and allow them to have a life experience that has been denied due to extenuating circumstances. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Caroline Vandemark Fund for Brain and Spine Tumor Research at Hackensack University Medical Center.
