On Wednesday, January 20, at 6:45 PM, Temple B’nai Abraham\'s Sisterhood and Social Action Committee will co-sponsor the 22nd annual Women\'s Interfaith Forum, celebrating Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.\'s legacy, at the temple located at 300 E Northfield Road, Livingston. Since 1994, the Temple B’nai Abraham Women’s Interfaith Forum, celebrating the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., gathers women from greater Essex County’s houses of worship and faith –based groups, to share a vegetarian meal, prepared by the women of TBA’s Sisterhood, and a discussion about issues that are of interest to women of all backgrounds. Many guests are repeat participants and have attended this event over the years. Acquaintances have turned into friendships through the years as many returning invitees look forward to this yearly event. Lisa Reisboard, TBA Social Action Committee Chair with Sandra Kantor and Suzanne Weinick, TBA Sisterhood Co- Presidents, spearheads this event. The topic this year is “Rising Painkiller and Heroin Addiction in Our Communities: Exploring Prevention and Recovery Options.” The panel includes Moderator: Marian Schreck, VP & COO of Newark Renaissance House; first speaker: Legislative— Angelo M. Valente, Executive Director, Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey ; second speaker: Treatment—Julie Griffin, President, Newark Renaissance House, Inc. and third speaker: Prevention—Lesley Gabel, HPR, Co-Executive Director, Safe Communities Coalition of Hunterdon and Somerset County. There will be a Q & A following the panel discussion. A vegetarian/dairy buffet supper will be served. Reservations are required. There is no charge for this event, but seating is limited.
