Ali Asgar Tara is a Brooklyn-based non-binary visual and performance artist from the Bengal Delta. Asgar looks back at their past 7 years of art and activism juxtaposed with queer desire and pleasure with In Between Lands and Territories: Love, Loss, and Survival. They came to the US as an Artist Protection Fund Fellow in 2016 and will discuss how they create and thrive while also processing trauma and vulnerability in their hybrid practice using the body, space, and personal narrative. Their work has been featured across the world including the Dhaka Art Summit, the Kolkata International Performance Festival, the Defibrillator Gallery in Chicago, City of Asylum in Pittsburgh, and the Queens Museum in New York City. They have an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
