Le Parc Place is in the center of Maplewood, a short walking distance to Maplewood Memorial Park, and walking distance to the Maplewood train station! We are a small, boutique center serving children from Maplewood, South Orange, West Orange, Millburn, Summit and the surrounding towns.
Role Description:
LPP is seeking a Full-Time Lead Pre-K Teacher for our on-site location in Maplewood, NJ. The Lead Pre-K Teacher will be responsible for developing and implementing age-appropriate lesson plans, maintaining classroom order and discipline, and providing a safe and nurturing environment. They will supervise and support Teacher Assistants, communicate actively with parents and the center director, and participate in professional development and training opportunities.
Responsibilities:
- 1. Foster Creativity: Create an environment that encourages artistic expression, curiosity, and a love for learning among preschool-aged children.
- 2. Curriculum Development: Design and implement innovative and age-appropriate lesson plans that integrate various forms of art, such as painting, music, dance, and crafts, into daily activities.
- 3. Individualized Learning: Recognize and support the unique needs and interests of each child, tailoring lessons to accommodate diverse learning styles.
- 4. Storytelling and Imagination: Spark the imagination of young learners through engaging storytelling, dramatic play, and imaginative exercises.
- 5. Emotional Development: Promote social and emotional development by teaching empathy, conflict resolution, and cooperation through artistic collaborations.
- 6. Multi-sensory Learning: Utilize a hands-on, multi-sensory approach to learning that engages all the senses, making lessons memorable and enjoyable.
- 7. Classroom Management: Maintain a safe, organized, and stimulating classroom environment that fosters creativity and independence.
- 8. Parent Communication: Establish open and regular communication with parents to keep them informed about their child’s progress and share the joy of their creative development.
- 9. Assessment and Progress Tracking: Implement ongoing assessment methods to track each child’s artistic growth and development, adjusting teaching strategies as needed.
- 10. Professional Development: Stay up-to-date with the latest trends in early childhood education and art-based teaching methodologies.
- Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field
- Prior experience teaching preschool children in a classroom setting
- Demonstrated knowledge of child development principles and practices
- Excellent communication skills and ability to effectively collaborate with colleagues, parents, and children
- Current or eligible for NJ State Teaching Certification in Early Childhood Education
- Strong artistic background or inclination
- CPR and First Aid Certification
- Ability to pass a background check and fingerprinting
- Reliable transportation to and from the center
- Patience, creativity, and a genuine love for working with young children.
