Write in GERARD W RYAN - Not a PO Thread

I never pick up my home phone (and my wife always turns the ringer off so I never hear it anyway), so that solves the robocall problem. People who need to reach me know my cell phone number.

He wins many threads.

and your dog knew it was Jerry Ryan and not Jeri Ryan you were calling for?

Smart dog.

Saw some comments on FB about this thread. Seems like Greg Lembrich thinks people still supporting Jerry Ryan don't have as much class as Jerry himself. And he's mentioning the best way to "get back" at them is to work hard.

Nice.

What Facebook page?

a Maplewood resident's personal FB page. he went on a rant about this thread and the people writing in Ryan. Lembrich posted a reply to it.

My life is much better now that I have blocked all the crazy people from Facebook.

I hadn't considered that voting for someone that reflects my political beliefs is an indicator of classlessness. It's not like Gerry is Donald Trump. However, if Greg can channel hurt and anger by working hard to do a good job, that would be a constructive approach.

He must somehow think we are UN-doing the will of the people by voting for the person of our choice. I mean this is Maplewood, wasn't the election over after the Democratic primary? cheese

Class.

Is it classy to move into Town, contribute nothing, offer yourself to the Democratic Party as a Candidate for the Governing Body, lose that endorsement to an incumbent and long-time community activist, then launch a Primary Challenge and latch on to a movement started by a few disgruntled people and when you win distance yourself from those people?

If he posted what he did a couple of days ago there would be even more write-ins for GERARD W RYAN

She was giving me the silent treatment for a while, and then she said, "Sooo... Who isGerard?"

Can someone explain this? Looking over the ballot it states Lembrich is a Democrat. In the primary wasn't he an independent? How can he change?

There are no primaries for independents..

when did he distance himself? if he had, I may have voted for him.

Exactly.

I'd prefer Jerry in the seat, admire his considerable service, and agree that by comparison Greg has done very little for the community. But I think it's unfair to imply (with the phrase "move into Town") that Greg is a carpetbagger. He's been here for almost 10 years.

I'd suggest that one definition of "class" might be for a candidate to say he's going to "win over" those who didn't support him instead of saying "get back at them."

I'd also think that someone who has the ability to see things from the point of view of others might understand why they still don't like some of the shenanigans pulled by the Village Keepers. He doesn't have to agree with people on the other side of the issue, but you might think a smart politician would be able to understand where they're coming from. He sounds like a guy who thinks we're bitter. Personally, I'm not bitter. I just don't like the tactics his campaign employed, and don't want to reward them with a vote. I could have written in Mickey Mouse or Carrot Top as a protest, but I decided to vote for a person who would actually do a good job in office.

I did the write-in vote for Jerry but missed the instruction to hit "enter". Oh well. I tried.

undervotes send a message as well. will be interesting to see if there's any gap between Adams and Lembrich in the final tally.

there seem to be a few posts on Facebook that suggest some people are losing their **** over the fact that some people are writing in Jerry Ryan.

If you wrote in a name and did not hit enter, none of your votes registered. That was my problem this morning until one of the persons working the polls pointed this out to me.

I haven't seen any so I am considering myself fortunate to not be social media friends with such people. I wonder how they would have reacted to the local politician who once loaded up the district leader seats as best as possible with supporters, including some who switched parties to do so.

Write ins are already at 51 with only four precincts reporting.

Write-in has a pretty good chance to beat Phyllis Scalera.

110 now, with Adams in the lead

BTW, the BOE race looks very tight. Maini, Pai, Sabin maybe?

Almost 200 more people voted for Adams than Lembrich. I wonder if he'll take note, and I wonder if he'll care. But 200 people are often enough to swing a primary election, so he might want to think about winning those people over to his side over the next 3 years.
