Thoughts about Kushner

Could it be that Trump is allowing Kelly to withhold clearance for Kushner, or putting pressure on Kelly to build the case against Kushner's continuation? I say this because Trump could actually grant clearance to Kushner, but he has not.  My theory is that Trump has decided he doesn't want his beloved daughter standing at the intersection of Washington and his own ambition. He realizes his son-in-law is really not up to the job, as it is defined. So he's got Kelly to do his dirty work while saving his own face and ivanka's. Just watch!

Not sure what you mean by this part.

Jared has a lot of financial issues that stand in the way of his getting clearance.  I don't think it has anything more complicated than that.

I absolutely disagree. Of course, we don't know what is going on in 45's head but I doubt his ego would have stopped him from issuing clearance. Then, again, does he know he can issue clearance himself?

Interesting that Jared and the princess are mostly silent these days. Last year, they were going to save the world.

There is a difference between Kushner getting FBI clearance, and Trump authorizing an override and allowing him to review highly classified materials anyway.  The reason Jared can't get clearance may be related to any of the following:

1.  Lying numerous times on his clearance application, including not reporting over 100 contacts with foreign nationals, and needing to update his security application several times as a result.

2.  Trying to set up a secret back channel between the Trump team and the russians in the Russian embassy.

3.  Being close friends with Putin's girlfriend, and Murdoch's ex-wife, who is believed to also be compromised by China and possibly a Chinese agent.  Warned by FBI about this.

4.  Trying to get personal bank loans for his business at 666 Fifth Avenue from Russian and Chinese bankers during the transition, when he claimed he was acting on Presidential business.

That's just what comes to mind off the top of my head, sure there are plenty more instances.

being a billion dollars in debt is likely to make anyone a security risk.  pretty much a no-brainer to deny someone like that clearance.

I sometimes wonder if Trump is trying to remove Kushner from his daughters day to day life by putting him in precarious situations -- essentially setting him up to be the fall guy so his princess is back to him 100%

There is no need for conspiracy theories on this one.  This dude ticks the boxes of several of the main reasons why clearances get denied.

Right, but why doesn't Trump override it? (Not that I personally think he should!)

Totally agree with this.

Yup. Ivanka's and Drumpf's allegiances are to each other. Jared is just window dressing. They will both kick him to the curb.

Except that he's filthy rich.  They will do anything to be with and please other rich people.

I remember deplorables at the GOP convention saying they knew Trump had to be a good guy because his children were so great.  You gotta admire the seamless internal logic.

I don’t think beloved is the right word.  I don’t believe the man is capable of love.  She generally makes him look good.  If she were to start speaking out against him he would trash her just like every other living thing on this planet.

The saddest thing is that if Ivanka was one of "And those of us with ravaged faces, Lacking in the social graces", I wonder if Trump would even give her the time of day.

Yeah, I sort of had tongue in cheek over "beloved." Also, by "intersection of Washington and trump's ambition," I mean, that ivanka is in trump's way as he tries to keep up with the appearance of doing his job. Also, I read that once, when ivanka was complaining about how surprisingly "mean"  everyone was in DC, Trump reputedly said to her, "I told you this is a tough town," words to that effect. He wants to save her from his...and her...ambitions by creating a situation that gets her out of there.

100%. He doesn't love her. She's an extension of him and a reflection of him. She absolutely knows that she will be disinherited if she publicly disagrees with him or trashes him. Look what he did to his nephew and nephew's son -- removed them from the family health insurance because of a family dispute -- and the nephew has a severely disabled son! Trump is 100% transactional. His reaction would be, "Why should I give them health insurance if they're challenging Daddy's will?"

I wonder if she and Jared are still looking to buy in DC.

Of course not. He cherishes beauty. He loves the fact that Ivanka is beautiful and men think she's hot.

If Tomi Lahren, Ann Coulter, Meghan McCain (although her own disavow her because of her weight), Stacy Dash, Dana Perino, and the rest of their ilk were unattractive, conservatives wouldn't give them platforms to spew their rhetoric. If you're pretty and blonde, whatever you say is more palatable, even if it's dangerous.

I think because those who respect the process and spent lifetimes dealing within the framework of govt clearances (Kelly/McMaster) have told him not to.  Coupled with the fact that the optics are simply terrible.  He's a very stable genius after all and can occasionally take a little advice.

Right, but why doesn't Trump override it? (Not that I personally think he should!)

Also, there's nothing technically to override - Kushner has not been denied clearance, it's still under review

As I said, it's good to have you back.

AP is reporting that Trump will leave it to his Chief of Staff as to whether Kushner retains interim security clearance.

Ari Melber read the substance of the call Rosenstein made to Kelly that the clearance is problematic because of info discovered in the Mueller investigation. Bill Kristol said this makes him even more worried about Rosenstein and Mueller's job security.

You know, the fact that a man who cannot get a security clearance has had access to THE MOST SECRET DOCUMENTS in the government's possession for more than a year certainly does put HRC's private email server in perspective.

I wonder how much of the billions Kushner owes on 666 5th has already been covered by the money he's making selling classified info that he's been accessing for the highest Russian oligarch bidder!

And the other way around.
