Why are all the light posts in Memorial Park off?

While we're here, what's up with the right turn light at Millburn and Springfield Avenue westbound? It just turns red for no reason, and there's a No Turn On Red sign there. The right turn light goes red even when Springfield Avenue is green. There's no one crossing. There's no other traffic going that way. You're forced to stop for no reason, beautiful woman by your side or not.

This is a question for the town engineer.  I would recommend giving that office a call.

Just to double check, the light is on two county roads, but it's still the town engineer I should call, correct? Edited, as 124 is a state highway, not county.

Good luck finding the person taking responsibility. It's right on the border between two towns and two counties.

Well, I'm pretty sure it is on the Maplewood side, and that it was changed recently. I drive through that intersection all the time, and only a couple of weeks ago have I seen that light red. I could understand if it's pedestrian activated (there is a button on that light) but twice I've been sitting at that red light with no one nearby or crossing. It's just odd.

I thought the management of Springfield Ave in Maplewood was taken over by the town many years ago

Good luck with that.  I've seen several people almost get run down by cars at that intersection.  The light, as you describe it is in Maplewood Township and the Springfield Avenue and Laurel Avenue intersection.

Sounds like a malfunction to me, unless there is a pedestrian crossing there with a walk light on.

Since this intersection is at a border and there are perhaps four governments involved, call the Township Engineer.  He should have the correct info as to whose responsibility this light is.

That's ok. There seems to be a lot you don't know.

 Now, that's rich.

Funny, how there were several reasons given on this thread that seemed to explain why the lights were out and excused everything.  Then the lights just came back on again.  No problem with the wires, the conduits, the floods, the library, none of that.  Anyone who fights that hard to excuse those that need to be held accountable must have some skin in the game.  What's not so funny is they are willing to overlook the safety and health concerns of the community to just keep finding excuses even if they make no sense.  That's why everyone keeps believing the lie that dining out somehow contributes to spreading COVID-19.  This is just a way to justify incompetence.  It should just be about the leaders apologizing, admitting their mistakes and making things better next time, but instead what you have is a population of people to help justify all the mistakes in leadership and refuse to improve things because they are all part of the same political team.

how do you know there were no problems with any of those components?

I don’t think the shade that TomR threw had anything to do with the darkness that agitated your reply.

You very well might have some sort of neurological disorder going on. Do you have some issue with the mayor? Former mayor? Town hall on valley street? Are the rainbow colored crosswalks annoying? How about blue paint?

Next up on “You can’t explain that!” Tides go in, tides go out.

It’s impossible in the mind of CHTD that someone got their message, checked why the lights weren’t working, and fixed it. They were off, then they were on, and it’s all *checks notes* the fault of the maitre d’ at Lorena’s.

For my part, thanks for all the recs on the red light. I’m applying Occam’s razor and thinking that the light is pedestrian activated but doesn’t change immediately, so people have already crossed before the light changes.

I don't know, don't you think there's something suspicious about how the lights were out, and then when they were repaired, they suddenly went ON? I think the mayor and the TC have a lot of explaining to do.

Maybe the electrician is running for the town council…it’s all a mafia !!

I haven't had the opportunity to use this one in years!

Greetings!  I know you've all missed me.  No need to celebrate.  I happen to check my home security camera footage and it appears Memorial Park is once again dark.  What happened?  Did we have another flood in Maplewood?

Did you know a Bigamist is really a fog over Rome?

Those are some powerful cameras…

Interesting. DeHart's walkway lights are out as well. I'll let someone at Town Hall know.

Are you renting out your place, or can someone squat in it for a bit? Seems nice and close to the train station.

Your home security cameras are pointed towards the park? This seems like the wrong strategy.

they are turning the lights off because they're trying to save on the cost of electricity. People have been contacting the Township Committee to complain that they are concerned their taxes are too high.

I thought we were offering "clean energy" in Maplewood though.  Isn't that what they are trying to talk everybody into these days?  I thought the clean energy was supposed to be more affordable and better for everything, even maybe lowering taxes?  NO, NO WAY, NOT THE TAXES, just your bill goes down.  Taxes only go in one direction.  Don't forget to vote for higher taxes on election day!
