It may refer to humidifiers that are sometimes installed in conjunction with forced hot air furnaces. We had one of those in the condo. It wasn't very effective and we had to add a room humidifier in the bedroom.
It blew condensed moisture into the duct work. We didn't have mold. Wasn't expensive to run.
Yes, they're built into the air plenum of a hot air furnace. Sometimes a pain to keep clean (ours used pads). But quite effective.

I heard this term used the other day but I have no practical idea of what it means. Does anyone have one of these? How does it work? Do you have to have ductwork? Do you get problems with mold? Does it use a lot of energy? Does it actually maintain a steady humidity?
I am entranced by the idea but short on the details. Please share your experience.
