Where can I get decomposed granite

Hi Folks,

I'm looking to get a bulk amount of decomposed granite to be the top surface of a patio area (rather than a base for stones). Having a heck of time finding this stuff locally. Whenever I go to a stone supply place, they point me to crushed granite or just some mix of small sized gravel. It's not quite what I see in walkways in parks and gardens which is what I'm looking for. Instead of seeing small gravel stones on top. Rather, I want what the kind of material that's almost like a mix of sand and soil, but doesn't get muddy when it rains, nor gets whipped up as dust in wind. See the path in the picture below for what I'm talking about. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I found this NJ supplier through Google: http://www.braenstone.com/2015/07/crushed-granite-supplier/ There are others.

It's funny -- we had a landscaper over a while ago to bid on a project, and he had no idea what decomposed granite is. I think it's beautiful. Haven't done anything with it yet, though. Please let us know how your project goes.

I wonder if you are looking for what is referred to as "Quarry-processed" in the link Elle-Cee provided.

Woops. It looked like it uploaded in the orinal post. Wonder if it got blocked somewhere along the way. Thanks for the responses. We had actually been to that very place It seems that QP is not quite what we're looking for as there are some stones intermingled. But I could be wrong, what we're looking is closer to a heavy, grey sand or silt. May have to settle for the QP though.

(I removed a duplicate post - guess it was one with the pic)

I thought decomposed granite and crushed granite are the same, but they're not. Interesting article on the subject:

http://www.homeadvisor.com/cost/landscape/crushed-decomposed-granite/ The article promotes crushed granite, which it says is more stable, but you can add stabilizers to decomposed granite.

Thanks Elle_Cee. I'll run this article by my wife. I think crushed granite is easier to come by which would be wonderful.
