The like button comes in pretty handy when I'm not on my pc and want to acknowledge a post.

Love this. I liked everyone's posts above, using Firefox on Windows 7...turns out you cannot unlike.
Can't unlike under Chrome either. And I don't see any green and I don't get any kind of notification when my posts or comments are liked, nor is there any indication of WHO liked something. So, I find this to be a very underwhelming change.
Sac can you try hitting refresh on your browser? Or asuper refresh on pc which CTRL and F51
I'm not sure I want or need people to know I liked their comment - I am aware of several public forums where this would be overwhelming to say the least. (For example, online newspaper articles with comments - you'd be swamped with notifications of people you don't know) I think I'd find it less encouraging if people could identify the liker.
FWIW, Jamie, on a technical note, I can't get the older iPad to work the button at all, even with a stylus. The air2 only works half the time, with several attempts.

can u unlike on FB? We'll be improving this feature soon.
On Facebook, you can cancel your like by clicking like again. That's what I mean by "unlike". (As opposed to "dislike" or similar.) And you can click into the likes on a post (yours or someone else's) and see who has liked it.
As sac said above - putting aside the like/unlike stuff:
"And I don't see any green and I don't get any kind of notification when my posts or comments are liked, nor is there any indication of WHO liked something. So, I find this to be a very underwhelming change." [emphasis added]
I addressed not seeing the green issue - we'll try to make it stand out more and I also mentioned that we'll work on showing who liked the comments/discussions. I'll look into notifications, but they'll happen later.
I don't really care who does or doesn't like my posts on MOL. I guess I see it as more impersonal because I don't know who people are in real life and I didn't choose who is here, unlike in my Facebook feed.
jamie, are you saying that some people are actually seeing the green color? In any event, I'm with kthnry in that I don't really care who likes my posts on MOL but if some find it a good feature then so be it.
Wendy, I see green after I've liked the comment. When I return to the thread later, the like button is back to showing black.

I don't even see it right after liking.

Same here. I just liked what I wrote above and what you sac wrote that I just quoted. No green sightings. Except the quote field.
just wait for the next round of updates. I'll let you know when they take affect in case you don't see them.
Jamie, I just "liked" your last comment, and the thumbs up icon appears green instead of gray, for what it's worth, although the coloration is subtle.

And some are US Senators from Texas.
I seriously doubt that either of them are here on MOL.
@jamie OK, so now I get the green "1 like" when I like. And I can see that I was the one who did the like. But it isn't "sticking" ... when I go back to the same comment, my like is gone.

hmm, weird - can you try liking this comment? So if you like and refresh - it goes away. Or when you click to another thread and come back to it later it disappears?
My older iPad won't let me Like that comment.
(Since I alternate iPads daily, depending on which is more charged, it could be frustrating. And apparently I'm not the only one using an iPad 2)

Now it seems to be sticking ... at least on this one. I'll try some others.

Hey jamie,
Please look at sac's comments. The unliking is the least of our concerns.
