Unemployment for Part-time workers who have not accured sick leave while they play teacher at home

Does anyone have intelligence on this? My earning potential is going to end and my stress level soar if I have to stay home and play teacher during the day and work at night. There is a big elephant in the room!

Can I collect unemployment from the state if I have to be a teacher for my son during the day?

Can’t help you on the pay question, but I encourage everyone to lower your educational standards as far as necessary to make this work. Family harmony and security are more important than educational perfection right now.

Leave the color-coded grid educational perfection and hyper enriching activities to those who can afford the time.  The rest of us will remediate any educational weakness and bad habits later, and our kids will still be qualified for college.

If you still have a job, regardless of the time of day you perform it, probably not.  Unemployment insurance payments are for those of us who have lost their job due to the myriad closings of businesses that cannot function during the shutdown.

A question that so many work-at-home parents have to ask is how to balance childcare needs with work needs so the children stay healthy and engaged and you can work.  This need has not been adequately addressed by the many news articles, e-blasts, and social media posts I have seen.  Then again, I do not have any school age children in my household.  Try connecting with any school, parent, or youth group resources you may have for ideas.

you have to be laid off by your employer to get unemployment.  there was an article about this...i think if its voluntary closure, you need to use sick time 1st (if you had it...if you don't, you can apply for unemployment right away).  if its mandatory closure, you can apply for unemployment....if you have the time in to qualify.

I don't know how it works if self employed.  might need some type of loss of business insurance and be unable to work because the government won't let you....wouldn't count  if you could still work, but choose to put your kids 1st.
