uber to JFK

I know it depends on day/time/etc, but how much would it be, generally speaking, to take an Uber from here to JFK?

At this exact moment, it's $117.39. If you have light bags and are traveling on a weekday, there is an extremely cheap and efficient way to do it in under two hours via public transportation: NJT to Penn Station, LIRR to Jamaica, Air Train to JFK.

How about an Uber to Newark and shuttle to JFK? Definitely under $50.

^^ Good plan.

As for Uber: If you have the app, you can request a fare estimate and schedule a ride ahead of time.

Be advised that Uber estimates to the NY airports are low. We got an estimate for around 80 bucks to LGA and it ended up being closer to 120.

You can also take the train to Penn Station and get a cab to JFK.  It's a fixed amount.  I think $60.

We just did this.  The Uber to JFK on Weds afternoon, May 17th, was $90 but there was an undisclosed $20 surcharge since the Uber drivers are not permitted to pick up passengers at JFK for the return ride.  It took about 1:30 min.

However, arriving at JFK last Saturday at 12:30 in the afternoon, the rate was $157.  And, the phone connection between the driver and the my husband was bad despite calling several times and it was impossible to figure out where he was picking us up, we canceled the call.  We were charged $8.

We got a yellow taxi and the ride was $167, preset, plus toll which were about $16.  We would have tipped either way.  So it was really about the same.  Not sure we would repeat this experience having used various taxi services in the past.

If you complain, they might cancel  the $8  charge and give  you a discount on your next ride.

Uber has already infiltrated 58 countries and running successfully. The number of Uber chauffeurs doubles every six months. But there are many things that normal folks don't know like the drivers don't get discounts, uber babies get special onesies, the cars are no more than 10 years old, some drivers rent their cars and phones. Drivers are usually judged based on their "acceptance rate". Check 10 reasons you should be talking about the Uber driver safety http://www.proteleccheckmate.c...

We use Lyft rather than Uber whenever possible. They treat their drivers much better. Without fail, when I ask a driver who drives for both which employer s/he prefers, the answer is always Lyft.
