Tuscan Street Crossing Guard(Seth Boyden)

Ok, I have had it up to here with that crossing guard on Tuscan Street, she is AWFUL and that is putting it nicely! Half the time she just doesn't show up, she fumbles around in her car avoiding having to cross you, I've witnessed a young boy maybe 9 or so having to cross himself while she sat in her truck! I felt like getting out of my car and seeing him across, but I was dropping my own kid off. I've had to "wing it" myself on more than 5 occasions with a stroller! Anyone who frequents the area knows they drive fast on Boyden, pedestrians beware! She needs to be fired! If someone can direct me to the proper channels because I do not want to see her next year, I'm surprised no one has been hit by a car with her. She's an ***-hole (excuse my French)

The police department manages the crossing guards, please contact them.

Crossing guards are employees of the police department.  If you feel that strongly about the situation you should report the problem to them.  Documentation and statements from others regularly crossing at that location would be helpful.

Thank you all! I will contact the Police Dept!

We loved the crossing guard there about 15 years ago when my kids were at SB!  (But she was an older lady and I believe I heard that she passed away LOL )   I hope the situation improves soon!

This crossing guard has been on the job for at least three years, exhibiting the same ... ummm ... limitations since the beginning. Her first year, I called the police department to alert them to the fact that she stays in her vehicle when the weather is not perfect, and she had the habit of trying to cross people as she stood near her vehicle, rather than in the crosswalk. The police responded promptly, and the crossing guard did much better right away.

Side note: While the PD followed up with the crossing guard, they did - and continue to do - nothing apparent with blatant violations drop off & pick up rules.

I don't believe that those rules are actual ticket-able offenses, more likely breaking of school rules.  For example, one rule is that you are NOT to drop off children in the two parking lots, you can either park legally on the street and walk children in, or you can get in the drop off line in the circle.  Both are valid choices.  The circle sucks, I get that, but it is still quicker than finding a parking spot and walking the student.  But not everyone likes the two choices.  For example, there is a newer silver Nissan sedan that the rules apparently don't apply to.  On more than one occasion I've seen them pull into the driveway for the parking lot on the Quick Chek side of the school, drop off a student, and then use one of the parking spaces to turn around and exit the lot.  But that isn't a police matter, it is a policy matter.  Maybe if the school would follow through on their threat of standing in front of such vehicles and making them wait until drop off is completed to let them go they would get the hint and go in the regular drop off line like the rest of the us.

Three years?! Unbelievable!  I'm sorry but that's unacceptable,  it's obvious she is not cut out for such a busy street, she's horrendous, lazy and unprofessional.  She would much rather use her phone and talk to the many visitors who just come and hang out while she "works" God awful.

Re the drop-off circle ... although it has its issues, I was always very thankful that it was there.  Much better than having to find a parking space and then walk in.  (There was no circle when my kids first started at SB. And there wasn't one at Tuscan when our older child was there ... and AFAIK there still isn't one at Tuscan.)

Drop off & pick up issues that ARE ticketable include blocking lanes of traffic for extended periods of time, and driving/parking on sidewalks.

And ... tickets or not, I'm betting police would have more impact than teachers or parents on enforcing policy in the circle drive, driveways & parking lots. I've seen blatant and loud disrespect of the principal & teachers, along with serious arguments when parents say something to offenders.

People are driving and/or parking on sidewalks?  WTF.  Admittedly we only drive in when we miss the bus, so I'm not there every day.  That sounds insane

Yeah ... I've seen cars pulled up on the sidewalk along Boyden at pick up. Worst thing I've seen is someone getting blocked in the circle drive by buses and escaping via the sidewalk that goes from the street to the front door of the school. Seen it more than once.

I no longer go to SB for pick up as I now live close enough for my 5th grader to walk, but standing in the corner of the property waiting did not help my faith in humanity. Some people legit don't know they're not supposed to use the driveway to the lower parking lot, but most know full well and do it anyway.
