Tuscan School Drop Off

Whose bright idea was it to allow double parking on an already over crowded busy street in the morning during the work/school commute?! (Harvard AVE ) You people who insist on double parking to drop your kids off will wait until the line keeps moving. Coming over and trying to force your entitled way into the next lane is very dangerous as that is how accidents happen! Stop being stupid, no one has the time for a possible collision  on their way to work. Use the brain you were born with.  *Rolls Eyes in Disgust*

Tuscan drop-off has been troubled for many years/decades.

Chief Tuscan was run over by a double-parker. True story.

Very disappointed to hear that the improvements/changes MPD made to the street during drop-off aren't more effective. We were a Tuscan Family for many years and, yes, that situation is a dangerous mess.

yeah, back in the ‘90’s it was getting crazy and the the cops had to keep people moving. I used to park on girard or sommer or osborne just to avoid the drama. Especially when it was raining or snowing.

I can attest to that! My four were at Tuscan (K-6) during the ‘70s and it was always a major PTA awareness issue. I am not surprised a workable solution hasn’t surfaced. Perhaps, with township cooperation, and today’s technology, cameras might capture the entitled culprits and tickets/warnings mailed to their homes?

Edited to add: Students walked home at lunchtime back in the day and the PTA began a program for latch=key kids to bring a brown bag lunch to eat in the auditorium, rather than go home to an empty house. PTA members volunteered to cover the lunch period, later hiring a “matron” to supervise. Sitting indoors eating a bagged lunch was infinitely safer.

There was also a PTA initiative to promote window signs which offered refuge for kids to find a “Mom” at home if a child felt a need for a safe place.

Maybe a call to the non-emergency number of M.P.D. might do some good.

Double parking can't be legal.

One of the issues is that long-time Tuscan Principal takes zero responsibility or accountability for managing the situation.  She doesn't think it's her issue to manage. Parents have tried for years to find solutions and she has provided no support.
