Trusted Jeweler?

I lost a stone on my engagement ring and need to get a replacement. Unfortunately, I have no experience with this type of thing, including where I go to find a new stone and get it set in my ring. I have heard stories that unsuspecting people in my situation go to jewelers only to be sold inferior stones and/or, to have their diamonds removed and replaced with lesser stones. Can anyone recommend a jeweler who they know is trustworthy?
Many thanks for the recommendations.

KLS Jewelers. She is a personal jeweler here in Maplewood. Well known in the community and very experienced. I am in the process of redesigning my engagement ring with her right now. Please pm me if you would like her information.

Beacon Jewelers Maplewood. In business since 1972...........that has to say something

Beacon in Maplewood Village. I've never purchased a stone from there, but I've had two pieces made there, and have had work done on multiple pieces of jewelry. I won't go anywhere else.

I've always gone to Beacon Jeweler's in Maplewood and always been very happy with their service and workmanship. I believe they are closed on Mondays, though.

Fourth reco for Beacon.

fIfth. vote for Beacon.

For custom work we go to Jewellers Pinnacle in Millburn, who did our wedding bands.

Not wanting to hijack, but is Beacon also recommended for watches? My son bought one at an estate sale that might be really nice but needs work. Trying to figure out whether it would be worth it.

Years ago my husband took a watch to a pawn shop to replace the battery (he thought it was a jewelry store). They replaced the battery, but managed to break the gears inside the watch. He was going to try to make them repair it, but I pointed out that if they broke it that badly while replacing a battery who knew what they would do while "fixing" the watch. So I took it to Beacon and they were able to repair the watch, though even Tony was confused as to how the pawn shop managed to do so much damage during a simple battery change question

Watches - It was a long time ago now, but the guy at Beacon seemed really happy to see my dad's old, neglected, but good-quality mechanical watch (1960, but still) and get it running again. I can't remember now whether he sent it out to someone, or whether someone right at Beacon worked on it. It has been running fine (when called on) ever since. This is at least 10 years ago, and maybe 15 or 20.

If I were still in NJ, I would certainly take any watch questions to him.
