Trump to McConnell: "Get back to work!"

The jokes write themselves. I do not think I've ever witnessed a sitting President publicly tear into congressional leadership as Trump is doing.  There are a number of reasons for that which I'm not certain that Trump is fully aware of.*  (Or if he is, he does not care.)

*"Article I gives Congress full power over the collection and expenditure of public funds. The president has no independent spending or taxing authority absent congressional authorization, and must come to Congress annually with hat in hand."

One of the few tirades Trump has got right for a change

Presidents "tear into" Congressional Leadership when it's the other Party that controls Congress, but Trump is supposedly a Republican.

OTOH,

I agree that Trump cannot be faulted on the facts on this one.

Trump should take some of the blame for the healthcare debacle.  He campaigned on "repeal and replace" but had zero vision on how that should actually be implemented. His leadership skills are abysmal.

I think he had no clue or interest in how the ACA would be replaced. In his limited understanding of healthcare and how D.C.  works he assumed that Congress would do the heavy lifting for him. He's that ineffective CEO that walks into a board room and decrees something he done and then walks out expecting his lackeys to figure it out.

Trouble is most people are not sure how healthcare and D.C. works given the back room deals, contributions to candidates by special interests, pharma and insurance companies etc.

er, wrong. You don't need knowledge of "back room deals" to understand the important aspects of the ACA. It's not all that hard. It's pretty simple actually.

Ok then, Why doesn't the USA have a basic one payor system like other G20 countries do?

Are you serious? It's because we're the United States of Corporations. If healthcare were universal and paid for via our taxes, the federal government would be able to regulate pricing—drug prices and medical care prices. Think there are any corporations lobbying against that? Also, it would put the health insurance industry out of business. Many. many lobbyists in that group ...

Initially, and maybe still, it was a way to deny black people access to health care. If you're really interested, here you go:
