Trump paid no federal taxes for eight of ten years of tax returns

New York Times just reported. They acquired 1985-1986 federal.tax returns.

0 zip nada.

ETA According to Trump he lost over  one billion, more than any individual American.

So I guess we can now call him a loser.

Which I think was pretty much his income in the 80s and 90s.

As I added above, he was apparently by his terms, a loser.

1985-1994

I don't think this is a surprise to anyone who was aware of DJT in that timeframe.

Agreed, but my Maryland-based mother was SHOCKED when I told her that Trump was always a joke to those in the NY area exposed to his BS over the years.  She truly thought he was a respected businessman.

Yes, but now we have his returns. We have some of the ones we were able to pry loose. Any fool would presume the rest of it up to now shows worse.

Alas, they aren’t returns. They are “transcripts”. They will be spun and dismissed like everything else.

He lost $100,000,000 / year, and in 1987 wrote The Art of the Deal. His father was bailing him out. His 2017 tax overhaul favors the real estate industry.

meh. so what? The deplorables think it's way cool to cheat the government.

Nope, we can call him “the biggest loser” , “the best loser”. He likes to be the best at stuff

remember when Trump was just a dopey, occasionally entertaining, silly little NY figure? Those were the days.

I wouldn't discount Russian involvement.

Discount Russian involvement. I always love a bargain, let’s go with that.

Like mot of us.

But how many, especially in the Red states, will read this story? They get their news from Fox, Sinclair and local community newspapers. Even a dribble of truth manages to get to them, they'll assume its fake news.

I bet it's from the Deutsch Bank docs. Aren't they one of the few responding to subpoenas?

I'm sure he's trying to convince the justice department to investigate and arrest anyone involved in this reporting.

Do you seriously think he can do that? What legal principle would he be trying to use against the first amendment?

I didn't say it's going to happen. I just am willing to bet that he is trying to make it happen.

here's how the NYT describes it:

The newly revealed tax information covers an earlier period of Mr. Trump’s business career. And The Times did not obtain Mr. Trump’s actual tax returns. But it obtained printouts from his official Internal Revenue Service tax transcripts, with the figures from his federal tax form, the 1040, from someone who had legal access to them.

It's not going to be disbelieved.  It fits right in with Trump's own personal comeback narrative.

Trump tweeted:

Additionally, the very old information put out is a highly inaccurate Fake News hit job!

Many corporations don't pay federal taxes either.  Besides those suffering from TDS; How does Trump paying no federal taxes for eight of ten years a couple of decades ago effect the average American?

Hopefully this will show some of his supporters who he really is.
